Field notes from what we’ve been up to, what we’ve been taking in, and what we are thinking about at The Emergency Mind Project.

If you have ideas or things you’d like to see — or if you want to help and get more involved — I’d love to hear from you: dan@emergencymind.com

An Organizing Framework for Elite Performance

Seedling of a new idea: Organizing techniques and theory around elite human performance under pressure into this 3x2 matrix of interacting ideas. Three levels: what I do, what my team does, what the structures we operate in/with do. Two states: on shift and off shift (pre or post). Would love your thoughts and feedback on this.

The Cynefin Framework (in a resuscitation context)

The Cynefin framework is a really interesting mental model that explores the connections between different types of situations (simple, complex, etc) and effective styles of leadership (best practices vs emergency responses). This Twitter thread steps through the framework using medical examples to describe the quadrants. Definitely worth a read.
